Every year, millions of people make a New Year’s resolution to pick up a new hobby. After a long, hard day at work, it can be very tempting to spend hours watching TV and surfing the Internet. However, if you’re like most people, chances are you would prefer to put this time to better use. Here are a few examples of good hobbies that you can pick up in 2018.
If you go to Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts before work without fail, chances are you spend $3 to $5 on coffee every day. This adds up to $15 to $25 for every five-day work week. After a year, this adds up to between $780 and $1,300 a year. Instead, you should put that money to better use by purchasing a quality coffee machine and picking up the hobby of home-brewing coffee. All you need to do is wake up five minutes earlier every morning to brew yourself a cup.
Go to any cafe and you’ll likely see at least a few people typing away on their laptops while sipping on a cup of coffee. Chances are, quite a few of these people are bloggers. If you enjoy writing or journaling, you should think about picking up blogging as a hobby. You don’t have to write the blog for an audience, at least initially. Simply blogging for yourself can change your life for the better. Fortunately, blogging is as easy as coming up with a quirky name and creating a free blog on WordPress.
Learn a New Language
Travel to a non-English speaking country and you’ll soon be wishing that you took the foreign language courses you took in high school and college more seriously. Fortunately, it is never too late to pick up a language. Consider going to language classes in your local community or take advantage of the many free resources online.
